A new cable box has been developed by Verizon that can observe what’s going on in the room – and then feed special commercials to the screen based on what it detects.

For example, if it detects people cuddling, it could show ads for flowers or a romantic vacation.

The technology uses a bunch of sensors, including thermal imaging cameras, microphones and motion sensors, to detect the mood of the audience – and then serve up commercials that fit.

Of course, people who care about privacy are freaking out, calling the box a “privacy nightmare” and are calling for it to be stopped “before consumers lose control for good.” (Daily Mail)
